Mark Anthony, who is besotted with Cleopatra rushes home at the news of his wife, Fulvia's death, to try and heal political tensions by marrying Caesar's sister Octavia. Word of the event engages Cleopatra, who is then mollified by the description of Octavia. But Anthony returns to Cleopatra, Escalating tensions with Caesar lead to a war, which Caesar seems to be on the verge of winning, yet ends with the death of the main characters of the play
