The merchant of Venice
"Why, fear not, man, I will not forfeit it, Within these two months, that's a month before This bond expires, I do expect return Of thrice three times the value of this bond." The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare is a tale that intermingles the prejudice of the times with retribution and mercy. The story centres around Shylock, a Jewish loan shark, who rsorts to harsh revenge on the forfeiture of a bond, embittered by a lifetime of cruel insults from his Christian neighbours.
