A Long Way from Chicago:A Novel in Stories
SC Cilandak ( Ungu Tua / Proficient )
This book is a breath of fresh air, very well written, full of great characters, and made up of one entertaining story after another. It is a novel told in stories. Each chapter tells about a visit of two kids to their grandma's house in southern Illinois, where they spent one week each summer from 1929 to 1935. This Grandma is like no other. She is an eccentric, countrified trouble maker who, despite her curmudgeonly exterior, is full of mischief and love. She will make people feel good about themselves, unless they already think too highly of themselves, and those she will not hesitate to knock down a peg in her own special and creative way. I loved this book and look forward to reading the sequel.
